Following the call for projects previously launched, the Rencontres de Bamako reveal the list of artists for the 2022 edition and will propose to the public a list of about 75 artists from Africa and the Diaspora to be discovered between October and December.
The team of the Rencontres de Bamako presents the artists who will take part in the thirteenth edition of the biennial, which is characterized by its visual aspect and its convergence with the continent. Entitled « Maa ka Maaya ka ca a yere kono » which translates as « the people of the person are multiple in the person ». On multiplicity, difference, becoming and heritage, this edition of the Meetings of Bamako will take place from October 20, 2022 to December 20, 2022, in various places of Bamako in Mali.
Once again, Executive Director Cheick Diallo, Artistic Director Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung and the group of curators Akinbode Akinbiyi, Meriem Berrada of MACAAL, Tandazani Dhlakama of Zeitz MOCAA, and Liz Ikiriko of the Art Gallery of York University in Toronto will offer a snapshot of the experience for artists and the public.
The Rencontres de Bamako will pay tribute to in-between spaces, to what resists definition, to periods of progress, to being many things or neither and both, to becoming, and to contrast and uniqueness in all their nuances by proposing 75 creative situations from the African art world to enrich this event.
