From October 21 to November 21, 2021, Manouchka Shams presents the exhibition « L’Entre-Deux » and questions this path to parenthood at the ONOMO hotel in Lomé.

« L’Entre-Deux », an exhibition by the artist Manouchka Shams, aims to raise the untouchable that covers the path of parenthood. It questions the desire to become a parent that is not realized in the blink of an eye by everyone.

Manouchka Shams lifts the veil on certain men and women in particular, who are thus victims of society’s abject gaze when their bodies or their predetermination is not yet ready for such an undertaking.

Through this exhibition, the artist wants to insist on the moral and psychological charge of such an ordeal. Far from being didactic or demanding, the works of Manouchka Shams invite visitors to become aware of the need to be understanding and benevolent towards women and men awaiting motherhood or parenthood.

Composed of about thirty paintings, this exhibition, committed to the analysis of motherhood and parenthood, features women, bodies and bellies in a nuance, with a subtlety that questions any individual who takes a look. Her interrelated works are created through an acrylic technique on canvas with occasional collage. Manushka Shams immerses the viewer in immense vistas and elicits in him another kind of intuition, that of compassion.

Sensitive to creation in all its structures, Manouchka Shams considers herself a curious and dreamy artist.

Through her works that express a sense of satisfaction and despair, she notices and questions her environment in general. Her versatile art aims at painting to communicate, tell, make feel and share her feelings.

Self-taught, she studies her subject, explores different ways in terms of tones and materials to find a wonderful impulse of self-satisfaction. Her paintings, abstracted with representations of female bodies, tell authentic or whimsical stories with a motivation inspired by fiction or daily existence. Manushka Shams does not limit herself to strategies and needs to explore, have fun and enjoy her creation.
