SEPTIEME Gallery in Paris is featuring Férielle Doulain-Zouari in a captivating solo exhibition this mid-February. Under the evocative title “Ce qu’elles façonnent de jour comme de nuit“, this exhibition highlights the concepts of production, line and existences explored by the Franco-Tunisian artist. Scheduled for this Friday, February 16 at 6:00 pm, the exhibition opening offers an opportunity to awaken our sensitivity to nature and reconnect with the mother source.

In her exhibition “Ce qu’elles façonnent de jour comme de nuit“, Férielle Doulain-Zouari presents an original installation combining clay and glass. Inspired by the women potters of Belkhir, in southern Tunisia, the artist revisits ancestral pottery techniques to create a symbolic composition. These local craftswomen perpetuate traditional know-how in the design of their pots, and it is from this tradition that the artist draws inspiration to trace the thread of time and re-establish the link between the earth and its history.

Férielle Doulain-Zouari’s installation takes the form of a terracotta checkerboard interlaced with crushed glass, in which the artist explores the notion of line and its impact on production and existence. The work represents a whole that can be assembled and disassembled, offering a new, traditional perspective on line. According to Tim Ingold, modernity has favored the narrowness of line to the detriment of the marks left by gesture.

With a restorative vision, Férielle Doulain-Zouari takes up this thought, committing herself to exposing manual labor as a lever for connecting with nature. The Franco-Tunisian artist seeks to restore her lines to their original vitality and reconnect with nature in a profound way. In a short, striking poetic verse, the contemporary artist shares with us this need to connect with nature and invites us to rediscover the traces of our primary origins, the very essence of our being.

They. Those who dig with their hands, extract the clay, sift it, knead it, shape it and fan the fire.
She. The earth. The clay. Shapes, dries and hardens.
She. Water. That which flows, waters, and gives life.
Water. Lines. Those dug by water into the earth. Those of wilderness and stone erosion. Those of cultivated plots. Those of writing. Those of paths and roads. Those that weave or carve. Those that tell of our first origins.
Them. Traces. Those of lines, subtracted or added. Those of materials that meet. Those of time that passes and leaves its mark.
