At the start of this new year, the world is immersed in a mood of half-hearted optimism, faced with considerable social, political and economic challenges that are holding the attention of global societies. How, then, can we build together a promising vision for the future? With this in mind, the M&C SAATCHI GROUP is launching a call for participation, inviting players in the art world to contribute to the creation of a promising future for all. The “Art for Change Prize 2024” art competition, open to emerging artists from around the world with at least five years’ experience in the creative sector, also aims to support and promote emerging talent in the arts.
For the 2024 edition of the Art for Change Prize, artists are invited to respond creatively to the theme “Tomorrow: Visions of a better future“. This theme seeks to illustrate, from an artistic point of view, engaging perspectives on a currently uncertain future. Participants are encouraged to explore current issues in contemporary society and to deploy their creativity in this direction, acting as beacons of hope for a better future.
The Art for Change Prize 2024 will award six winners from the first selection, from which the winner of the art competition will emerge. A total of £20,000 will be awarded to the regional winners, with five finalists receiving £2,000 each and the overall winner receiving a prize of £10,000. To round off this unique artistic experience, an exhibition will be held at London’s Saatchi Gallery to showcase the competition’s winning works.
Eligibility criteria
The prize is open to emerging artists aged 18 or over, whose promising artistic careers span a period of five years. Potential candidates for the Art For Change Prize 2024 must be residents of M&C Saatchi’s main global regions, including America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the UK. Artists may only compete in the region associated with their country of residence.
Eligible media include painting, drawing, illustration, photography, collage, 2D mixed media, video or film. Works submitted must offer a creative response to the theme “Tomorrow: Visions of a better future“, and must have been created since January 1, 2021. In addition, each candidate must be able to certify the authenticity of their creation and have the necessary copyright to submit it.
