At the twelfth Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, under the title « Still Present ! », artists from around the world question the tradition of advancement and the highly sensitive global situation that results from it. Notwithstanding their works, the exhibition « Still Present ! » highlights verifiable documents, including political and lobbyist distributions from the Archiv der Avantgarden – Egidio Marzona (AdA).
The contributions highlight the links between expansionism, despotism and domination, and propose decolonial procedures for what was to come, around a progression of inquiries: how to shape a decolonial ecology?
– What role can non-Western women’s activist movements play in reclaiming narratives?
– How can we reassess the discussion of compensation after the arrival of restituted objects?
– Can the field of feeling, at some point, be reclaimed by art?
The twelfth Berlin Biennial runs through September 18, 2022 and is curated by Kader Attia in team with Ana Teixeira Pinto, Đỗ Tường Linh, Marie Helene Pereira, Noam Segal and Rasha Salti.
