Until March 19, 2022, the exhibition « Re-création » offers a unique dive at the junction of contemporary African art and European masters at the Blachère Foundation. These artists come from several nations of the African continent and adapt to European painters, such as Manet, Ingres, Picasso, Gauguin or to inevitable genres such as the still life.
Everything is operated by Clay Apenouvon, Moustapha Baidi Oumarou, Moufouli Bello, Wim Botha, Angèle Etoundi Essamba, Pierre Man’s, Franck Kemkeng Noah, Roméo Mivekannin, Aimé Mpané, Hassan Musa, Marc Padeu, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Mary Sibande, Maya-Inès Touam and Dagmar Van Weeghel to redo, re-concoct the great works, all the while adding their own sensibilities.
Some of the works exhibited in the « Re-création » exhibition were part of the Blachère Foundation‘s collection at the time, while others were created by artists in residence or loaned by museums, galleries and willing collectors. Among the forty or so works presented, some will remain at the Blachère Foundation to enrich its contemporary collection.
« Re-création » is an exhibition that offers a heterogeneous group, like an exhibition in a historical center, a real welcome to go through the historical background of Art.
