Nick Cave is a renowned contemporary artist who has gained worldwide recognition for his elaborate installations and textile works, including his iconic Soundsuits.
Currently, Nick Cave is presenting his most iconic exhibition to date, titled “Forothermore,” which runs through April 10, 2023 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The title of the exhibition, “Forothermore,” is a neologism created by Nick Cave to reflect his commitment to creating a space for those who feel marginalized by mainstream society and culture.

The sections of the exhibition are organized around three themes: “What It Was“, “What It Is“, and “What It Shall Be“. The “Forothermore” exhibition is a tripartite story that explores the past, present, and future of Nick Cave’s artistic practice.

The first section, “What It Was“, explores the early works that shaped the artist’s creative and social development. Nick Cave often cites the psychedelic pageantry of George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic collective and the flamboyant excess of Chicago house music as formative influences in his artistic development.

The second section, “What It Is“, includes works that deal with oppression, loss, grief and remembrance, but also joy and celebration. Finally, the third section, “What It Shall Be“, brings together Nick Cave‘s recent work, Soundsuits, and Tondo’s monumental works, which illustrate his strategies for survival in the face of injustice.

Nick Cave‘s exhibition, “Forothermore“, is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and curated by Naomi Beckwith, the Jennifer and David Stockman Associate Director and Chief Curator of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation in New York. This is Beckwith’s first time as curator at the Guggenheim. In honor of Nick Cave‘s desire to provide access to the widest possible audience, the opening weekend will be free to the public, thanks in part to support from the Ford Foundation.

In sum, “Forothermore” is an engaging exhibition that is sure to captivate audiences. It will highlight the artist’s entire career and feature rarely exhibited early works.

Visitors will discover Nick Cave‘s commitment to creating a space for those who feel marginalized by mainstream society and culture, particularly working class communities and queer people of color.

An exhibition that is certainly worth a visit for all contemporary art lovers and those looking to connect with a unique perspective on our current society.
