Until May 08, 2024,Lomé’s Hotel Onomo is being transformed into an artistic space to host the “Mémoire Rêveuse” charity exhibition, highlighting dreams and the link between women and children. Organized by the Yawoa Foundation in collaboration with the association Women Working for Change, Dagan magazine and Lomé’s Onomo Hotel, with the support of Ellipse Art projects, this art exhibition aims to support the healthcare of women and girls in the neonatology department of the CHU Sylvanus Olympio. This laudable project uses art and artistic talent as a means of participating in contemporary social initiatives.
The works in the “ Mémoire Rêveuse ” charity exhibition were created by artist photographer Parmenas Awudza, one of the finalists for the ellipse 2023 Prize. He was selected on the initiative of the Yawoa Foundation, for his original and immersive photographs, which will then be exhibited and sold for the benefit of people hospitalized at the CHU in Lomé, in order to contribute to their healthcare costs.
Produced in December 2023, the artist’s photographic exhibition is inspired by the theme of the previous edition of the Prix Ellipse, “Mémoire Rêveuse“. Through highly expressive photographs, Parmenas Awudza colorfully and aesthetically reveals children’s dreams and the essential bond between mothers and their children. Exploring dreams, aspirations and notions of inheritance, “Mémoire Rêveuse” emerges as a visual exploration of the deep bonds between mothers and children. The photographic solo show opened on March 8, 2024, International Women’s Rights Day, a symbolic day in perfect harmony with the message conveyed by the charity exhibition.
Self-taught since the age of 16, Parmenas Awudza is a young Togolese artist who expresses his creativity through photography.
