« Figures of Speech », an exhibition organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago dedicated to the work of the pioneering practice that transcends media and connects artists Virgil Abloh runs from July 3, 2021 to September 26, 2021 at the ICA, Boston in the United States.
« Figures of Speech », brings a look at the highlights of the designer’s career, between these clothing collections, his particular work in realistic configuration and furniture, and his collaborative projects. It offers an interdisciplinary program and exposes his creative scope in a living space.
The « Figures of Speech » exhibition shows the artist’s journey from creative advisor to Kanye West to founder and creative director of a streetwear label.
It reveals some of his example of overcoming adversity and his various third-party collaborations such as Rimowa with a fully transparent suitcase, his bottle designs for Evian, his capsule collection with Nike to praise the brand’s notorious models, or the revised models, for example, the Air Jordan 1, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air VaporMax and Nike Blazer Mid, or his touch on Converse Chuck Taylor shoes, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike React Hyperdunk, or his Off White x Nike Mercurial Vapor pair for Kylian Mbappé on the occasion of the 2018 cup final, his capsule collection aimed at Generation Y designed for small spaces and named Markerad for Ikea, his collection of lighting fixtures for Baccarat and many others.
