The winners of the prestigious Paritana Prize competition have been revealed! After launching the call for entries in January 2024 and examining 41 entries, all testifying to the creativity of Malagasy artists, the juries selected the 3 emerging artists who stood out for the relevance and creativity of their art.
For this 8th edition of the Paritana Prize, artist designer and researcher Tsirinioino Hojotiono lrimboongy distinguished himself by winning first place in the competition with his project “Ridò – dévoiler les souvenirs“. His artistic approach explores the possibilities offered by digital media to create new forms and images that awaken the senses and consciences. The “Ridò – dévoiler les souvenirs” project proposed by the artist for the Paritana 2024 Prize is a series of multimedia art installations. It combines detailed textual descriptions of his memories, digital images generated by artificial intelligence and a video accompanied by a sound testimony.
This artistic exploration of memories aims to capture and share them in an innovative and immersive way. Tsirinioino Hojotiono lrimboongy illustrates her talent and creativity by pushing the boundaries of digital art and offering a rich and engaging artistic experience. His innovative approach and mastery of digital media won over the Paritana Prize jury, enabling him to take first place and benefit from valuable opportunities to develop and promote his art.
As winner of the Paritana 2024 Prize, he will receive a 3,000 euro creative grant offered by the Fondation H, a 3-month artistic residency at the City of International Arts in Paris from October to December 2024, as well as financial support for the realization of his project. A solo exhibition in his honor is planned at the Fondation H ‘s Paris space in December 2024, followed by another at the French Institute of Madagascar in April 2025. These exclusive opportunities will help shape his artistic career and establish him among the elite of the Malagasy and international contemporary art scene.
The runners-up in the Paritana 2024 Prize, Andy Rosolohorivony and Finoono Rotovo Andriontseheno, were both recognized for their remarkable creativity and unique artistic vision. Andy Rosolohorivony, with his project “Et ils gravèrent le sable“, explores the situation of the Mikea people through photography, videography and installation. His work offers a profound reflection on the human condition in the face of contemporary societal and environmental challenges.
His ability to capture the essence of this complex reality earned him the runner-up spot in the Paritana 2024 Prize. Finoono Rotovo Andriontseheno, meanwhile, was rewarded for her project “Invitation Aux Temps“, which explores the relationship between humans and their environment through a temporal prism. Using architectural lines and geometric shapes, she materializes moments of life in an ever-changing world, offering a unique and captivating artistic perspective.
As runners-up, Andy Rosolohorivony and Finoono Rotovo Andriontseheno will each receive a 500 euro creative grant and the opportunity to organize a solo exhibition at the Fondation H in Antananarivo, supervised by the art center’s team. The exhibition is scheduled for November and December 2024, providing an exceptional platform to showcase their talent and innovative work.
These three talented artists were selected by a carefully chosen, renowned jury of experts from the local and international creative scene. It includes the director of the Cité internationale des arts de Paris, Bénédicte Alliot; artist and art historian Hermerson Andrionetrozofy; the director of House of Digital Art, Mauritius, Astrid Dolois; the founder of the Prix Paritana and director of Galerie RX, Paris/NYC, Eric Dereumoux ; the president of the Fondation H, Hossonein Hiridjee; the director of the French Institute of Madagascar, François Mougrenier; and the co-curator of the exhibition “Memoria: récits d’une autre Histoire” presented at Fondation H in 2024, Céline Seror. This prestigious jury played an essential role in selecting the winners of the Paritana 2024 Prize, contributing their expertise and vision to highlight emerging talent on the Malagasy art scene.
