Addis Fine Art in London presents the leading European independent exhibition of German-based figurative painter Giramchew Getnet until October 01, 2022 in its spaces.Through his work, he attempts to capture the wholeness of lived vision.
His works are loaded with human figures, communicated in various forms to pay homage to the variety of our perspectives, foundations and narratives.
Like the German expressionist painters of the mid-twentieth century, color is of paramount importance to Getnet Girmachew. The deep, bright yellow that sprouts from the sunflowers in his “Blossoming Mind” series is an image of essentiality and energy.
The objects themselves also carry representative weight: sunflowers are often planted by farmers to purify polluted soil, as they can ingest poisons and store them at the cellular level. This corresponds to the artist’s confidence in the soothing and restorative power of the art-making process.
