Joining science fiction, political issues, innovation, divination, nothing is clearer for Emo de Medeiros, one of the 11 artists investigating the future of travel at MAIF Social Club as part of the exhibition « Prendre la tangente » open until July 23 at 37 rue de Turenne in Paris.
Emo de Medeiros networks various components under the point of the connections between them. His desire is to track down what is developing in the contemporary world for the future, hence his interest in technology, because beyond that, computing allows him a kind of triangulation between the unavoidable which is a visual article, the applied part and the deep and political part.

His work « Vodunaut », exhibited at the MAIF Social Club as part of the exhibition « Prendre la tangente », consists of a head protection structure, a cell phone and shells. In doing so, it asks the question of what a future futurology would do, observes that the future has a lot to do with measurable extrapolation, whether political or financial, and has added the deep end of Ifá, a system of geomancy that is practiced in West Africa and involves cowrie shells in the divination cycle. In the headset, there is a cell phone where a video is played in which he studies a situation where the planet would be mainly covered by water, and where there would be relics of a strange kind. He proposes an excursion into what is to come.
In his works, Emo de Medeiros remains convinced that there is the unimportant, what ethnologists call « the powers of the imperceptible » and advises us that things like power or magnetism were perceived as supernatural peculiarities in their beginnings and makes us understand that in order to catch the world without a deep aspect, we slide the world towards the powers of the dead.
