The CAP Prize 2024 African Photography is an initiative to promote and support emerging photography talent in Africa. Launched in 2018 by the CAP Prize association, this annual competition provides a unique platform for African photographers to showcase their work and raise its profile internationally.
Again with a view to encouraging diversity and creativity in the field of photography in Africa, the CAP Prize is officially announcing the submission of entries for 2024. Until 7 February 2024, photographic artists wishing to showcase their work are invited to take part in this competition, which aims to highlight works that reflect the cultural, social and artistic richness of the continent.
As usual, a selection of international curators, publishers, editors and artists will review the entries. Once the initial observations have been made, 25 artists will be shortlisted and, finally, five of them will be awarded the CAP 2024 Prize as a tribute to their creativity and photographic art.
The winners of the prize will be announced after final deliberation by the jury in July 2024 and will benefit from increased visibility through international exhibitions, publications and artistic residencies. In addition to the recognition of their peers, they will receive a grant to enable them to continue their work and develop new projects.
Eligibility criteria for the CAP 2024 Prize
The rules for entering the competition are simple and accessible to all. The CAP 2024 Award is an event open to all individuals, regardless of origin, age or level of practice. Candidates are invited to submit original photographs that explore a variety of themes, including identity, collective memory, migration, politics, the environment and everyday life, particularly in Africa.
Only works created or focusing on themes from the continent and its diaspora and dating back no more than two generations are eligible for the competition. Isolated images will not be accepted.
