DAK’ART 2022: The main event of African contemporary art is announced for May

After the postponement of the 2020 edition of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art of Dakar because of Covid-19, El Hadj Malick Ndiaye, the artistic director and his group relaunch the operation.  The 14th edition of Dak’Art will take place from 19 May to 21 June 2022 in Senegal. 

Placed under the theme « INDAFFA# », this biennial will propose remarkable meetings, a new program, associated places and extraordinary devices.

Also, among the extraordinary projects, this biennial will offer an adventure of structures and will place national artists in competition with the world scene of contemporary art.

There will also be an exhibition of a selection of contemporary national training of the honorable visitor countries of this edition, including China and the Republic of Ethiopia, which will mix with the African contemporary creation.

It will also be a potential opportunity to examine the challenges of the biennial for the future. The theme of the 2020 edition of DAK’ART, restored during the current year, invites members to reflect on new mentalities to adopt despite the pandemic that shakes the world.

It will also allow to study the provisions that can declare the power of African social orders and stop racial contemplations. It is also the place to strengthen the links between African states to limit the internal shocks that weaken the continent, while a new international organization of the world ensures the rebalancing of powers.

It is in the perspective of observing palliative solutions to this new demand that the next edition of DAK’ART is held.

In breaking down the theme of this edition, it seems important to consider two impressions, one of which is the change or agitation of existing models all around.

The next origin is the reappropriation of knowledge to stay in line with the model that makes Africa the place of all possibilities.
