“ATLANTIC“, an artspace will open its doors in Ouidah on December 3, 2022 with its very first project “ Georges Adéagbo. Ouidah d’hier et Ouidah d’aujourd’hui “.
This artspace aims to accompany the improvement of contemporary art in West Africa, offering the public to compose together a new chapter of history.
At regular intervals, “Atlantic”, will host a new work by a recognized artist.
“ATLANTIC” will be a sanctuary for artists and the public, a position of reflection and motivation where to find shelter and stop between two intersections.
“ATLANTIC” will develop an unusual collection of forms and stories, a multi-voiced travelogue, framing the horizon of current art, as if to offer encouragement to open new eyes, to wander on new paths.
Located next to the Fondation Zinsou Museum in Ouidah, in the heart of this city cleared by the sea winds and facing the vast ocean, a historical anchor point.
The opening of this new space dedicated to contemporary art in the heart of Ouidah participates in the construction of an incredible future, linking destiny to culture, because “ATLANTIC” will welcome the gaze of all. The works will be visible from the road, accompanied by texts and encounters with the exhibited artists, which will be published on the web, to be accessible to the greatest number.
The project will also extend to a social activity to protect and propagate the value of Atlantic cultures and part of the profits will be allocated to associations that contribute to the improvement of the daily environment of the most disadvantaged occupants of the city.
“ATLANTIC“, will be, in this way, a space to host conversions and meetings, welcoming everyone to find inspiration in art.
