The Afropolitan Festival is an international arts event promoting cultural diversity, art and intercultural dialogue through quality musical and artistic performances. Organized by the Belgium’s Palace of Fine Arts, this year’s event aims to offer a new dimension to our dreams and to better understand their impact on today’s society, as a precursor to change. Contemporary art lovers and novices alike are invited to immerse themselves in the captivating experience offered by the Afropolitan 2024 Festival at the Belgian artistic cultural space.
During these four days dedicated to contemporary art from all horizons, discover an immersive gathering of versatile artists who dedicate their practice to highlighting different types of art including cinema, literature, music, visual arts and even philosophy, and take part in deconstructing the dominant rationalism of our society.
Bringing together a multidisciplinary artistic and political reflection on the theme “An uprising of dreams“, the festival offers a stage for collective assertion of our right to dream. The interactions between the performers, artists and public taking part in the Afropolitan 2024 Festival, allow for a greater reappropriation of the collective imagination as an impacting creative force, or simply as a comfort and rest zone to escape from today’s almost all desolate realities.
Throughout the festival, the focus will be on Belgian creativity, with fascinating debates including the presentation of the book “Witte Orde” by Sibo Kanobana. The artistic event continues on an immersive note with inspiring screenings, focusing on the creativity of filmmaker Rosine Mbakam, and musical explorations with Dushime, Laryssa Kim, Pitcho and the Musiques Nouvelles ensemble.
Innovative activities are also planned, such as the new Bozar Arcade video game platform, which creates a bridge between traditional art forms and digital stories through artistic games, and many other animations that are sure to amaze the public.
For the Bozar – All Over the P(a)lace nocturne on the first day of the Afropolitan Festival, February 29, the Envahisseurs collective will be on hand. This group of contemporary actors will be taking over every corner and room of the Palace of Fine -Arts until late into the night, with cultural and creative activities including dance, films, debates, texts and music.
