The African Artists’ Foundation presents “Shout Plenty” through October 1, 2022, an exhibition featuring more than 30 artists from across Africa, to be held at the space’s headquarters in Lagos.
The exhibition features artists such as Blackson Afonso, Sarfo Emmanuel Annor, Kingsley Ayogu, Nola Ayoola, Samson Bakare, Patrick Bongoy, Audrey D’Erneville, Olatoye David, Dodji Efoui, Matthew Eguaveon, Ugochukwu Emebiriodo, Wasiu Eshinlokun, Dan Halter, Chisom Ikeorah, Isshaq Ismail, Matt Kayem, Lindokuhle Khumalo, Zemba Luzamba, John Madu, Cinthia Sifa Mulanga, Nkemka Chinaza, Jean David Nkot, Johnson Ocheja, Emma Odumade, Adaeze Okaro, Precious Opara, Esther Onwukamuche, Sandra Seghir, Pierre Segoh, Kenechukwu Victor and Adesola Yusuf.
The group exhibition “Shout Plenty” maintains an exchange between individual experience and collective memory to determine generational misery. Seeking to construct an intertwined story of unmistakable voices, the curators have brought together artists from diverse media to convey a message of cohesion that values individual real factors.
Taking its name from Fela Kuti‘s groundbreaking 1986 album, the exhibition “Shout Plenty” questions the battles through the experience of art making and mediations. By examining the different ways in which freedom and voice reverberate in global understanding, “Shout Plenty” gives work to the inner existences of a few artists, as well as their networks, creating a strong mode of struggle.
Combined with creative thinking and reasoning, these interventions produce a special representation and understanding of generational socio-political holes.
The exhibition “Shout Plenty” explores how art can function as a strong and progressive power to challenge standardized frames of control.
