The city of Douala welcomes another contemporary art gallery : Logmo + Makon since November 9 inside the Douala Grand Mall, crossroads of the middle class of the capital of Cameroon with a first group exhibition: “IBET BA BODOL NI DJOB BA YEN NI TODJAM” which will present works by Jean David Nkot, Boris Ange, Jourdan Tchoffo, Feraul Fosso and Lauriane Youngang.
The aim is to respond to an expansion in the value of contemporary African art auctions, which has increased by 44% to a record £65.6 million, or about 49.5 billion CFA francs in 2021, and to counter the absence of collectors of African origin and even more so the absence of artists who are not known in their nations.
The explanation? The African market has too few art foundations, galleries or museums for the Logmo + Makon gallery to appear as an answer to this need.
