Until December 1, Maison Rouge in Cotonou is hosting “L’Essence pure sans bruit“, a masterful exhibition organized by Béatrice Dossou-Yovo, a passionate patron who has worked for over 15 years to promote Beninese contemporary art.

CONTEMPORARY ART FROM BENIN ! ” at the Conciergerie in Paris. This innovative technique symbolises the fusion between his Beninese heritage and his French roots. In his artistic practice, he masterfully navigates between figuration and abstraction, drawing inspiration from both Abstract Expressionism and Arte Povera, while integrating recycled materials that give an ecological dimension to his work.

In his work, Julien Vignikin draws on the Fon cosmogony, where Nana Buluku, a supreme feminine entity, gives birth to Mawu and Lisa, symbols of the balance between the feminine and the masculine, light and darkness. This spiritual inspiration is manifested in each of his works, creating a creative tension between opposites that tends towards a sublime artistic unity.

Julien Vignikin’s approach is characterized by a subtle oscillation between figuration and abstraction.
