The 14th edition of the “Rencontres de Bamako – African Biennial of Photography” promises to be an unmissable event for visual art enthusiasts. From November 16, 2024 to January 15, 2025, artists from the African continent and its diaspora will have the opportunity to present their captivating and immersive works, whether photographers or videographers, amateurs or professionals, individually or in groups, regardless of age or nationality.
Under the evocative theme of “KUMA: Word, Silence and Noise“, this special edition marks the 30th anniversary of the Photographic Biennial and promises a bold exploration of contemporary photographic expression. Artists are invited to bring to life moments of speech, eloquence, anger, hope, recollection, silence, cacophony and noise through their photographic lenses.
Photography, as an expressive and evocative medium, has the power to convey emotions, messages and ideas frozen in time. Artists who are able to play with light, framing and the context of their shots can create images that are both profound and communicative, leaving a lasting imprint on viewers’ minds. Artists interested in taking part in this unique artistic experience are invited to submit their application online before the deadline of March 31, 2024.
