« Nkabom, The Museum as Community » is a group exhibition presented by the ANO Institute of Arts and Knowledge at the Dakar Biennale 2022.

« Nkabom, The Museum as Community » explores the possibility of local area and association through the works of three artists and the idea of Nkabom, which means gathering. The exhibition will be on view to the general public through June 21, 2022, as part of the Dakar Biennale, and will highlight Kuukua Eshun, who explores the reconnection of women of African descent with the land in her film « Born of the Earth », Rita Mawuena Benisson‘s use of enormous scope and sensitive mediations, which reshapes the Afayhe, majestic spaces, and Kwasi Darko‘s installations, which examine the layers of metropolitan public spaces in depth.

The exhibition is curated by Nana Oforiatta Ayim, director of the ANO Institute of Arts and Knowledge in Accra and executive director of museums and cultural heritage in Ghana, who has also created mobile museums that will serve as exhibition doors and social event spaces in Popenguine, with the help of local residents.

The multi-purpose museums inherited the particular type of bamboo structures, – fufuzela -, by architect DK Osseo Asare and is produced under a partnership with Wakhart, a social scene that gives spaces to artists in Senegal.

It houses works by artists Go Salam and Moussa de Delu6waat, who reflect on their associations with the ocean and the networks that surround it, as well as their relationship with the climate.
