Conflict can leave indelible scars on those affected. Victims may experience feelings of anger, sadness, loss, despair and many other emotions that can be difficult to deal with. But for some, art can be a means of healing.
Collin Sekajugo is an artist from Uganda who uses his art to help victims of conflict overcome their pain and rebuild their lives. Born in 1985, Collin Sekajugo grew up in a country plagued by civil war. As a child, he witnessed the violence and destruction caused by armed conflict. These experiences had a profound impact on him and influenced his art.
Over the years, Collin Sekajugo has developed a unique approach to art that focuses on healing. He uses a variety of materials to create artworks that reflect the experiences of victims of conflict. His installations, sculptures and paintings are often designed to be interactive, allowing viewers to engage with the art in a tangible way.

One of Collin Sekajugo’s most famous installations is titled “Hope for the Future.” This installation consists of a series of square-shaped mirrors placed on the floor, each with a message of hope. Viewers are invited to walk on the mirrors, reflecting their own image in the messages of hope. This installation has been shown in several countries and has helped raise awareness of how art can be used to encourage emotional healing.
Collin Sekajugo has also created artworks that have been used to raise awareness of specific issues. For example, he created a metal sculpture of a child holding a gun. This work was displayed as part of a campaign to raise awareness about the consequences of using child soldiers.
