From October 28 to November 20, 2021, the Art-Z Gallery presents « Habiter la terre », a joint exhibition of two artists from two continents, one Chadian, the other French, with a typical characteristic: recovery.

DOFF and Christophe offer used objects another life, another wonder, another type of agreement. Between casings, residues of building materials, points and African accessories, each of the artists realizes universal works and reveals the need to have a healthy environment.

Mixing plastic art with poetry, the sculptor Christophe creates birds, creatures, planes and celestial messengers from reused objects representing freedom, relaxation and access to elsewhere. His specialty is simply the resurrection of unwanted objects that fall into his hands. In harmony with the works of his compère Apollinaire, they produce an unpretentious and stunning feeling.

Each one of them, welcomes the visitor into another portion of the earth and into a thought for the multitude of creatures that live there. The Chadian artist, Apollinaire will introduce these works made of warm protections collected on the seashores of the Ivory Coast. He stages the need to safeguard nature and will even present during this exhibition a representation of his grandfather addressed during an initiation ritual.

The artists of the exhibition « Habiter la terre »

Doff, whose real name is Apollinaire Guidimbaye is a versatile artist. He explores society through various media, including canvases and reused objects such as stamps and electrical wires.

Beginning with marquetry, small works of art in compressed wood, then texts, puzzles for young people, scenes and creatures cut out as well as pyrography, Apollinaire advances to the production of tickers before starting to create works of art. Later, he developed a taste for recycling and gave life to abandoned objects through which he sent messages to all of us.

These messages are regularly those of benevolence despite the nuances of the malice that plagues society, notably breast disease and the issue of solidarity and reconstruction in Chad.

As an artist, he fantasizes about undertaking an endeavor to introduce defenseless youth to art to help them coordinate and strengthen themselves, while changing the derogatory perspective that is regularly given to his nation as a nation at war.

Christophe is an enchanter. He uses used materials to create his works. Between birds, airplanes, celestial messengers, symbols of freedom, relief and admission to other worlds, made at the bend of a scrap metal, a vineyard, a sawmill, a wood, a quarry or the ocean, he gathers different soiled, chewed, abandoned materials to shape manifestations close to our realities. He is versatile, he shapes, welds, records, dissolved wood and metals, collects materials, fossils emerging from a distant feeling.
