Following the call for projects previously launched, the Rencontres de Bamako reveal the list of artists for the 2022 edition and will propose to the public a list of about 75 artists from Africa and the Diaspora to be discovered between October and December.

The team of the Rencontres de Bamako presents the artists who will take part in the thirteenth edition of the biennial, which is characterized by its visual aspect and its convergence with the continent. Entitled « Maa ka Maaya ka ca a yere kono » which translates as « the people of the person are multiple in the person ». On multiplicity, difference, becoming and heritage, this edition of the Meetings of Bamako will take place from October 20, 2022 to December 20, 2022, in various places of Bamako in Mali.

Once again, Executive Director Cheick Diallo, Artistic Director Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung and the group of curators Akinbode Akinbiyi, Meriem Berrada of MACAAL, Tandazani Dhlakama of Zeitz MOCAA, and Liz Ikiriko of the Art Gallery of York University in Toronto will offer a snapshot of the experience for artists and the public.

The Rencontres de Bamako will pay tribute to in-between spaces, to what resists definition, to periods of progress, to being many things or neither and both, to becoming, and to contrast and uniqueness in all their nuances by proposing 75 creative situations from the African art world to enrich this event.

Il s’agira entre autres des artistes comme Ixmucané Aguilar, Said Afifi, Ishola Akpo, Annie-Marie Akussah, Hunguana Americo, Leo Asemota, Jess Atieno, Myriem Omar Awadi, Akoto Baff, Salih Basheer, Shiraz Bayjoo, Amina Benbouchta, Hakim Benchekroun, Maite Moseka Botembe, Rehema Chachage, Uiler Costa Santos, Monica De Miranda, Fatoumata Diabaté, Aicha Diallo, Amsatou Diallo, Nene Aïssatou Diallo, Anna Binta Diallo, Mélissa Oummou Diallo, Binta Diaw , Adji Dieye, Imane Djamil, Sènami Donoumassou, Abdessamad El Montassir, Fairouz El Tom, Adama Delphine Fawundu, Raisa Galofre, Gherdai Hassell , Sana Ginwalla, Thembinkosi Hlatshwayo, Letitia Huckaby, Timothy Yanick Hunter, Anique Jordan, Gladys Kalichini, Hamedine Kane, Atiyyah Khan, Gulshan Khan, Seif Kousmate, Mohammed Laouli, Maya Louhichi, Mallory Lowe Mpoka, Nyawose Luvuyo Equiano, Nourhan Maayouf, Louisa Marajo, Clarita Maria, Billie McTernan, Marie-Claire Messouma, Arsène Mpiana Monkwe, Sethembile Msezane, Ebti Nabag, Elijah Ndoumbe, Lucia Nhamo, Samuel Nja Kwa, Nyancho NwaNri, Adee Roberson, Sofia Rodrigues, Fethi Sahraoui, Muhammad Salah Abdul-Aziz, Neville Starling, Eve Tagny, René Tavares, Sackitey Tesa, Helena Uambembe, David Uzochukwu et les rétrospectives de Daoud Aoulad Syad, Maria Magdalena Campos Pons, Samuel Fosso, Joy Gregory, Jo Ractcliffe et Promo-Femme du Mali.
