The MAM Gallery, a creative space that promotes art in Cameroon

Located in Bonanjo, the MAM Gallery has been supporting artistic creation throughout the African continent for over a quarter of a century. It offers a place of revelation, learning and creation dedicated to contemporary art, which encourages a large part of the population to engage in exercises of imagination.

It is thanks to Maréme Malong, a businesswoman and art enthusiast, that the doors of her contemporary art gallery were opened in 1995 in the business district of Douala, Cameroon. The MAM Gallery was created with the will to participate in the advancement of contemporary art and to make people feel the African creations.

The MAM Gallery responds to a responsibility: that of an Africa that thinks and acts by and for itself, far from the impacts of style and passing trends.

Its vision is to give voice to the world’s diverse dreams, reclassifying the connections between fields, thoughts and creative developments to bring a humanistic and friendly look to the art and cultural scene.

The MAM Gallery will tell the story of artists’ trajectories in Cameroon and beyond to make contemporary art shine by supporting creators, accompanying collectors and teaming up with all partners of the cultural ecosystem to set up a structure that considers culture as an asset whose financial commitment must be seen to better understand and think the world.

The MAM Gallery, a creative space that promotes art in Cameroon

MAM Gallery acts on lifestyle, qualities and places itself in a position to obstruct, establish, fight against the deception of an imposing business model to add a reinforcement of aversion to life to allow us to surpass ourselves by considering each potential perspective together.

MAM Gallery has established privileged links with specialists such as Bili Bidjocka, Soly Cissé, Fred Ebami, Anna Mapoubi, Joël Mpah Dooh, Boris Nzebo, Claudie Poinsard, Bibi Seck, William Wilson, Hervé Yamguen, Patrick Joël Tatcheda Yonkeu, and many others, and offers many potential open doors of perceptibility in Cameroon and the world.

The MAM Gallery offers assistance to emerging and established careers, accompanies the most common way of building a collection, offers studio visits, exchanges with artists, solicitations and guided visits to world fairs and contemporary biennials, as well as in situ and off-site exhibitions for the valorization of art.
