Museum TV: African art within the reach of the general public

In a context where many events such as the Dakar Biennale and the Africa 2020 season have been postponed, the integration of Museum TV on the Canal + Africa bouquet, as well as its Special Africa program, represent a real godsend for the continent. They will allow the general public to (re)discover effortlessly African artists, their works, their careers, and the philosophy that surrounds their creations.

A rich and varied program

To furnish these 30 days, the management of Museum Tv has concocted a varied program:

  • the glories of Islamic art: the special month African art starts on June 1st at 9 pm with a series presenting the glorious heritage of Islamic artists and architects. Particular emphasis will be placed on the links between architectural codes and the religious message of Islam. It is a true journey through the history of Islam, its art and architecture. The series will also be broadcast on June 8 and June 15 at 9 p.m. ;
  • the scribe who draws: the scribes played a major role in Egyptian civilization. Their exceptional work helped immortalize the history of this civilization through the centuries. Museum TV offers a close-up on these writing professionals, their works and their secrets on Wednesday, June 3 at 9 pm;
  • l’Art et la manière, by Mohamed BOUROUISSA: this program is devoted to the works of the young Algerian photographer. The latter highlights the artistic side of the suburbs through his pictures that also encourage a deep reflection on the mechanics of power. The broadcast is scheduled for Thursday, June 4 at 9 pm;
  • Mega Art: Andrew Rogers is one of the international artists whose mission is to redraw nature. To create his works, he draws his inspiration from the culture and history of Turkey, Kenya, but also the Antarctic, highlighting the impact of ancient civilizations. The channel also programs a focus on Kenyan art through a magazine broadcast on Wednesday, June 10 at 9 pm;
  • art and fashion: some video and photo works by the artist Kader ATTIA on Maghreb culture are to be discovered on Thursday, June 11 at 9 pm.

The Museum TV channel is accessible via channel 164 on your Canal+ Afrique package.
