Open until September 05, 2022, « Fly In League With The Night » is the most recent exhibition by artist Lynette Yiadom-Boakye featuring 67 paintings spanning twenty years of creation.

Painter and author, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is well known for her confusing oil paintings of imaginary characters. She creates non-literal artworks from an assortment of sources, while using characters that possess intentionally confusing, immortal and often conceptual settings.

Working with oil paint on material fabrics or coarse linen, she has created her own pictorial language. The characters in her paintings are both natural and secretive, as each of her works is made from a chronicle of found images and her own creative mind, raising questions of personality and representation.

His compositions are made in a sudden and natural way, revealing short, expressive brushstrokes and an unparalleled range of sensational dark tones that stand out against the glow of light.

His characters seem to exist beyond a particular time or place, inviting viewers to project their own stories, memories and interpretations.

Through « Fly In League With The Night », a significant exhibition that follows the improvement of his dialect novel from 2003 to the present. This exhibition is an up and down festival of her vocation and covers work from her days as a student at the Royal Academy Schools in London to her latest artistic creations.

The exhibition, « Fly In League With The Night », develops through the elements and discussions between the artworks, without strict sequence.

Composition is at the heart of her creative practice, with each of the works having idyllic, sometimes innocuous titles, as if to honor the title of a sonnet composed especially for this event.
