“Delinking and Relinking” is the new exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, which runs until July 1, 2024. Based on reflections created by decolonial masters, this collection is presented as an experience between the works, the chronicles and the visitors.

“Delinking and Relinking” unfolds in three axes. The first presents the occasions and connections that shaped the collection. Another focuses on the visitor’s whole body, seeking to break with traditional, visual, and free custom and explores touch, smell, and various tangible mixtures to achieve various registers of sensation and understanding. Finally, the narratives within the exhibition are plural and differentiated.

Highlighting 120 pieces and traversing each of the five floors, “Delinking and Relinking” traverses more than a hundred years of art history, with Marc Chagall’s 1913 Homage to Apollinaire as the earliest work and Laure Prouvost’s 2019 “This Means Tableau” as the most recent work.

The exhibition “Delinking and Relinking” has strived to modernize its methodology, this is reflected in the engineering and layout, the refocusing of works and creative voices, the blending of works, ethnographic or natural, and the many stories at the heart of the exhibition’s mediation and offers more than 40 mediations of materials, scents, melodic pieces. The Van Abbemuseum has worked with people with various disabilities to foster these new types of interventions, which are passed on to audiences in order to offer a more global and exemplary vision of art.
