The call for applications for the CAP Prize 2023 in association with the Eiger Foundation is open until February 7, 2023. Registration is free.
Submit your work now that is rooted in the African continent or its diaspora and win a series of high-profile exhibitions around the world.

You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with a panel of curators, editors, writers and artists and specialists from around the world who will review your work. 25 artists will be shortlisted and five will receive the CAP 2023 Award. The winners will be announced at the Photo Basel International Art Fair in June 2023.

The CAP Prize for Contemporary African Photography is open to artists and photographers whose work is created on the African continent or deals with its diaspora. The award includes a series of exhibitions in a joint effort with leading photography institutions and festivals in Africa and around the world. The prize is awarded annually to five outstanding photographers.

Launched by Benjamin Füglister in 2012, the award is to showcase contemporary African photography in major exhibitions and to broaden the global outreach of the winners in order to build a high-level network for future projects. In this context, the five winners of the CAP Award are hosted at the main exhibition of the IAF Basel – Festival for Contemporary Art and spend seven days in Basel.

In previous editions, the CAP Prize winners’ exhibition has been treed in coordination with a series of photography festivals from around 2012, including: LagosPhoto Festival, PhotoIreland Festival in Dublin, Cape Town Photography Month in South Africa, OBSCURA Festival of Photography, George Town in Malaysia, Festival Internacional de Fotografia de Cabo Verde in Mindelo, Eyes On, European Month of Photography in Vienna, the Night of Images in Lausanne, the Festival Image Afrique in Basel, the International Photography Meetings in Fés, Morocco, the International Photography Meetings in Ghar El Melh, Tunisia, Addis Foto Fest in Addis Ababa, and African Photography Biennial in Mali.

Remember that registration is free and you can do it by clicking here.
